Who I See

Parenting Support

Parents Need Space Too

Parents of children and teens can be doing their best and still feel unsure what to do next. An argument may keep repeating, or a child may need something you have not yet been able to understand. I offer parenting support and family therapy, including for families with neurodivergent children.

I spent nine years as a classroom teacher before becoming a therapist. That experience is one part of how I listen to what children and parents are navigating. I do not assume that a school setting tells the whole story of a child, or that one strategy belongs in every home.

Looking at the Pattern

In parent sessions we might slow down a difficult exchange and notice what each person may be responding to. What tends to happen before the conversation gets stuck? What does your child seem to need, and what do you need in order to stay present? We can look at those questions without making a parent or child the problem.

Family systems and attachment-based approaches may help us pay attention to relationships. With younger children I may draw on play therapy. When a parent needs room to name their own experience, a person-centered conversation may fit better than a list of instructions.

Who Comes to Therapy

Some work begins with a parent alone. Other times the child, teen, or more family members take part. We can talk about who should be included and why, based on your situation. A child may communicate differently in a session from the way they do at home, and both perspectives matter.

When a child is struggling to navigate a world that is not designed for neurodivergent people, I want to understand their experience rather than reduce them to a diagnosis. We can consider how the family responds and what is possible in the relationships they already have.

Starting Together

Sessions are available virtually across Texas. In-home work may be possible in Killeen, Copperas Cove, Temple, and nearby communities when meeting in your family's own space is a good fit. We can discuss which format allows the people involved to take part.

Send me a message about who is seeking care and what has been hard lately. I handle my own scheduling, particularly for in-home work. A free 15-minute introductory conversation is available if you want to ask how we might begin. You do not have to solve the family pattern before contacting me.

You can ask for support as a parent, too.
