What I Help With
Parent and Child Conflict
When Every Conversation Turns
Parent and child conflict can take over mornings, homework, rides in the car, and the few quiet minutes a family has together. The same argument may keep returning even when everyone is tired of having it.
I work with families and offer parenting support when conflict has become a pattern. Parents can be involved in the way that fits the child's age, the concern, and what the family is trying to change.
Seeing the Pattern Together
A family systems approach helps us look beyond who started the latest argument. We may notice how stress travels through the family, what each person does when tension rises, and which attempts to help are landing badly.
Play therapy can give younger children another way to communicate. Attachment-based and person-centered work can help us understand the needs underneath behavior while still making room for boundaries and parental responsibility.
Making the Invisible Visible
In a session, I may ask each person to describe the same moment. The differences often tell us more than deciding whose version is correct. We can practice pausing before a familiar reaction, make expectations clearer, and give a child a way to participate that fits their age. Small observations from ordinary family life can give us useful places to begin. Nobody has to perform a perfect family meeting.
Working in Real Life
Families may meet virtually from anywhere in Texas. In-home sessions around Killeen, Copperas Cove, and Temple can sometimes let the work happen in the family's own space, where routines and interactions are less abstract.
My Approach explains the different lenses I may use. Family Therapy and Parenting Support offers a wider look at family stress and complicated dynamics.
Talking About Fit
Contact me with the child's age, who may take part, and a general description of the conflict. I handle scheduling myself because family and in-home sessions need thoughtful timing.
You can start with a free 15-minute introductory conversation before we choose an appointment if you'd like. We can discuss who should attend first and whether virtual or in-home work seems more useful.
