What I Help With
Identity and Who Am I Now
When the Old Answer Changes
Identity questions can arrive after a transition, a diagnosis, a change in family role, or a quiet realization that an old version of life no longer fits. Sometimes the question is simply, "Who am I now, and where do I go from here?"
Sometimes what disappears with a transition is not only a role but an old understanding of who we thought we were. That can be frightening, but it can also create room. There may be interests we stopped making time for, parts of our personality we softened because somebody else did not like them, ideas we never explored, or things we wanted that got pushed aside by work, family, money, caregiving, or simple survival. Sometimes later life gives us a chance to rediscover those parts. Sometimes we discover entirely new ones.
Making Sense of Your Story
Narrative therapy can help us examine the stories that have shaped how you see yourself. IFS-informed work may give different parts of you a voice, especially when one part wants change and another wants everything to stay familiar.
ACT and person-centered approaches can keep the conversation connected to what matters to you. We can be curious about identity without rushing to label, resolve, or explain every piece.
Listening for Your Own Voice
We may notice which descriptions of you came from family, culture, work, or an earlier season of life. Some still fit. Others may feel borrowed or too small. Sessions can hold conflicting wishes without forcing one to win immediately. I may ask what each option protects, what it costs, and which values sound like yours when the room gets quiet. There is space to answer slowly.
Where the Conversation Happens
You can meet with me virtually from any location in Texas. In-home work may be available around Killeen, Copperas Cove, and Temple when your own surroundings are a useful place for this conversation.
Visit My Approach to understand the relationship behind the methods. Life Transitions explores the wider changes that often bring identity questions into focus.
Beginning With a Question
Write to me about the question that keeps returning or the role that no longer feels like yours. Since I schedule clients myself, I will respond directly about possible times and formats.
If you would rather have a free 15-minute introductory conversation before choosing a session, say that in your message. Curiosity is enough of a starting point.
