What I Help With
Complicated Family Dynamics
Families Are Systems
Complicated family dynamics rarely belong to one person. History, loyalty, loss, culture, expectations, and old roles can all enter the room before anyone says a word.
Healing does not happen in isolation. It happens in community, in relationship, and in family, including chosen family. I pay attention to the connections around each person as well as the concern that brought everyone together.
Around the Table
I have sat around kitchen tables with families whose experiences were very different from my own. That has taught me to ask, listen, and resist deciding too quickly that I understand the full picture.
Family systems and attachment-based work can reveal patterns of closeness, conflict, and protection. Narrative and compassion focused approaches may help family members hear the meaning beneath a position without asking anyone to erase their own experience.
Holding More Than One Truth
Family members can remember the same years differently. A session may involve hearing those accounts without requiring immediate agreement. We can look at who has been assigned each role, which stories are repeated, and what happens when someone steps outside the expected pattern. The work makes room for accountability and context without choosing a single family spokesperson. Curiosity can interrupt an old conclusion.
A Setting That Makes Sense
Virtual family sessions are available when participants are in Texas. Around Killeen, Copperas Cove, and Temple, in-home work may be possible when the family space offers useful context and the arrangement is a good fit.
The My Approach page describes the values behind my work. Family Therapy and Parenting Support explains more about the service itself and the kinds of family concerns I see.
Deciding Who Begins
Send a message describing the family members involved and what has been getting stuck. Since I do my own scheduling, I can talk with you about who may attend and what format could work.
If a free 15-minute introductory conversation would help before an appointment is set, let me know. We can start by clarifying the situation without expecting one person to carry the whole explanation.
