What I Help With

ADHD Support for Kids, Teens and Adults

The Person Before the Plan

Intelligence can help someone compensate for difficulties for a long time, but compensation has a cost. Executive-function problems, sensory needs, emotional intensity, social confusion, exhaustion, and overwhelm do not disappear because someone is bright. Even a very smart kid can become completely confused by what seems like a simple set of directions when attention or executive functioning is getting in the way.

That can be frustrating for parents, teachers, partners, employers, and other people around them. It is also frustrating for the person experiencing it. Often, by the time someone reaches therapy, the messages they are giving themselves are harsher than anything anyone else is saying to them.

Self-compassion matters here.

Sessions With Something to Use

Sometimes one of the most useful questions a parent can learn to ask is: Is this “won’t,” or is this “can’t right now”?

That does not mean there are never expectations, limits, responsibilities, or behaviors that need to change. It means understanding what is actually happening before deciding how to respond.

Working With the Day You Have

People who experience the world differently are often described as lazy, difficult, dramatic, oppositional, too sensitive, too intense, too focused, not focused enough, unmotivated, socially awkward, or simply “too much.” Kids may be treated as though every behavior is intentional defiance when what is actually happening may be overload, confusion, anxiety, an executive-function problem, sensory distress, or an inability to meet a particular demand in that particular moment.

Clients can meet with me virtually from anywhere in Texas. In-home work around Killeen, Copperas Cove, and Temple may be available when seeing the routines and relationships in their everyday setting would be useful.

My Approach describes why I adjust the work instead of following one formula. Neurodivergent Support has more about how I work with autism and ADHD across ages.

A Direct Way In

Use the contact page to send a few details about who needs support and what has been difficult lately. Because I schedule my own sessions, I can think through timing and format with you.

You can also start with a free 15-minute introductory conversation if you'd like. It can be a practical check about fit, not another task that requires perfect preparation.

Bring the brain you have, not the one someone expected.
